Luncheon-Celebrating Business at Concordia University Nebraska

The Business program at Concordia University, Nebraska has undergone significant changes since the early days of the 1980’s. Dr. Stan Obermueller was hired as the first full-time business professor and some space was literally mucked out of the basement of Strieter dormitory for office space.

In 2024, there are now six faculty members and approximately 288 business students. Where there was once only a business department, today we have the Paul H. and Mary Ann Koehler College of Business that includes business, computer science and math. The business program offers majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Communication and Marketing, along with minors in Accounting, Business, Management, Marketing, and our newest minor in Leadership.

The current Concordia University, Nebraska strategic plan outlined the creation of the Institute for Ethical Leadership and the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to enhance the engagement of alumni and outreach to the community.

The University and the Business Club have recognized the Women in Business since 2004 and have celebrated them through an annual luncheon. Today marks the expansion of this event to celebrate all business at Concordia. The Institute for Ethical Leadership will continue to recognize women in business. To further engage alumni and outreach to the community we are enhancing this event to recognize Concordia’s business alumni and the achievements of our faculty.

We want to thank our CUNE Business Partners, Seward County Businesses, Alumni, and friends of the University for your support and we look forward to celebrating the many accomplishments of those in the Business Industry at this event and those in the future.
