Our Team Camp Play Day is an opportunity for high school teams to get a full day of matches against other teams in the state and region. Bulldog players will officiate matches, and the Concordia coaching staff run the match schedule and tournament. Our team camp also features a hospitality room for coaches that includes food, snacks, and beverages throughout the duration of camp. Pizza is available for players/coaches from 11:30am-1:00pm.

Open to all JV and Varsity high school teams.

This camp will be limited to the first 35 teams that sign up!

Concordia University, Nebraska’s Art Department will be holding Saturday School morning sessions for elementary and middle-level students to learn about and create art. The sessions will be taught by Concordia students enrolled in Methods of Art Education and observed by professor and department chairman Don Robson.

The sessions, available to Pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students, are divided by age group. Each session will be based on a discipline-based art education lesson plan, addressing art history, aesthetics, constructive criticism, and art making.

All sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The classes will be held on Concordia University’s campus in Brommer Art Center, room 123. A $5.00 fee per student is required for registration and supplies. Each session has 25 seats available.

Let’s Play!

A Train the Trainer Experience

Enter a training in which you step back and reignite your joy of play! Engage in a time of creativity and wonder as you also learn important strategies for creating and sustaining play-based learning environments critical for young learners. The following descriptions highlight the underlying goals of play and meaningful connections. The training will include an abundance of resources to take home and share with your early childhood team.

10am-10:50am

Setting the Stage

During session one, participants will consider the meaning and their understanding of play-based learning. Through reflection, participants will consider how their classroom environments create a play-based climate and culture.

11am-11:50am

Let’s Make It Happen!

During session two, participants will consider how the implementation of specific strategies support children’s engagement in rich, play-based learning. Specific strategies include identifying the role of the teacher, play intentions, and developing a storytelling culture.

Lunch

12:30pm-1:20pm

Name the Learning in Play

In the third session, participants will consider ways to move from play-based provocation and conversation to methods of documentation. These specific questions will be addressed: how do we make time to notice and observe, plan for captivating conversations with children, and create authentic documentation, which reveals the developmental connections to play-based learning.

Participation in all three sessions is required.
